Image Comparison — See Every Difference Between Two Photos

Did that compression actually degrade quality? How much did the color correction change the shadows? Is the retouched version really better? These questions are impossible to answer by switching between browser tabs. PikDraw's image comparison tool puts two images side by side with an interactive slider that reveals differences instantly — no guesswork, no squinting.

What is the Image Compare - Any Size?

PikDraw's image comparison tool overlays two images and provides an interactive slider divider. Everything left of the slider shows one image, everything right shows the other. Drag the slider across the image to reveal and compare any area with precision. It's the fastest way to evaluate the difference between two versions of the same image.

Key features

  • Interactive slider comparison for instant visual diff
  • Touch-friendly slider for mobile use
  • Supports any two JPG, PNG, or WebP images up to 50MB each
  • Real-time drag for smooth, precise comparison
  • Works with any image pair — same size recommended for best results
  • Browser-based — images never leave your device
  • No signup, no limits

How it works

Both images are rendered into overlapping layers. A CSS clip-path is applied to the top layer, controlled by the slider position. As you drag the slider, the clip-path boundary moves, revealing more or less of each layer. This provides a seamless visual transition that makes even one-pixel differences visible when you drag slowly. The tool automatically aligns images from their top-left corners. For best results, compare images with identical dimensions.

Why use this tool

Switching between tabs or windows to compare images is unreliable — your brain adjusts to each image independently, hiding subtle differences. The slider comparison forces both images into the same visual space, making even tiny changes immediately apparent. PikDraw runs it all in-browser with no upload or processing delay.

Common use cases

  • Evaluating compression quality by comparing original vs. compressed versions
  • Checking retouching and editing results against the original photo
  • Comparing before/after exposure, color, or filter adjustments
  • Quality assurance for batch-processed images
  • Verifying that resize or format conversion preserved acceptable quality
  • Presenting before/after results to clients or stakeholders

Who should use this

Photographers evaluating editing decisions. E-commerce teams checking image processing quality. Retouchers presenting before/after results to clients. Anyone who needs to compare two versions of the same image with precision.

How to get started

Upload two images above — your original and the modified version — then drag the slider to compare. Slow dragging reveals the most subtle differences.

Best practices

  • Use images with identical dimensions for the most accurate comparison
  • Drag the slider slowly across detailed areas to catch subtle differences
  • Compare at full zoom for pixel-level evaluation
  • Use this tool to evaluate compression settings before batch-processing entire galleries
  • For client presentations, position the slider at the most impactful difference point

Pro tips

  • Use images of the same dimensions for the most accurate comparison.
  • Drag the slider slowly across areas of interest to catch subtle differences.
  • Perfect for evaluating editing effects before committing to a final version.
  • Compare compressed vs. original to check for quality loss.

Limitations to be aware of

  • Visual comparison only — no automatic difference detection or highlighting
  • Two images at a time — no multi-image comparison grid
  • Different-sized images are scaled to fit, which may affect comparison accuracy
  • No export of the comparison view — it's an interactive evaluation tool only
  • No overlay or blend modes — slider comparison only
